It feels like it’s been forever since I wrote a blog post! Sorry for my lack of posting recipes. To tell you the truth, I actually needed to go grocery shopping to get a lot of different things so that I could make new recipes and share them. I still need a few more ingredients, and then I should start being able to whip up some tasty treats for you guys! It’s too bad that cooking healthy and allergy-friendly meals, requires you to do a lot more shopping than just grabbing a processed boxed snack for your weekly meals. It would be really nice if just a regular supermarket would carry a lot of healthy things, instead of having to go different places to get a lot of different ingredients. For example, for our raw dairy, we have to go to an early morning drop off, for grass-fed meat and fermented veggies, we order it from out-of-state and they only come once a month, and for other odd and end things, we have to go to different health food stores. I guess what I’m trying to say is, I wish one store would carry all of those things! Oh, well…. 😛
Anyway, here’s how to make the fruit and veggie smoothie.
1-2 handfuls of organic spinach
1/2 cucumber (diced)
1 1/2 organic apples (Diced. I used Gala apples)
1/4-1/2 cup of organic frozen berry mix
1-1/2 cups of ice (water may be needed if too thick)
If you want your smoothie sweeter, you can add in a natural sweetener of your choice, but there should be enough natural sugar from the fruit itself.
Blend all ingredients together, except for the frozen berry mix. Once the everything is well blended, go ahead and add in the berries. Blend until a smooth consistency.
